Where in the bible does it say we should be deprived of anything that makes us truly happy? In The Secret, the movie, one of the teachers explains that money (or material things) don't bring ultimate happiness. I think you need to watch the movie again and do just a bit more research before you throw out accusations left and right. I think there is nothing so damaging as for a child to grow up and lose his ability play without inhibition. Imagination is, in my opinion, one of the most precious gifts God gives to mankind, and it's great to see someone holding on to it! I have plenty of "pearls" of my own, things left over from my childhood that take me back into the world of a six year old every time I see them. Glad to hear you found yours! Wow, that was great. Instead of college, for me it's working 2 jobs and trying to reconcile home life with that. My Sundays are my sanctuary (um... pun intended?) just as they are for you. No job, no conflict, just worship and rest. You have a way of writing things to which others can relate deeply. It's great! I'm often duped into thinking that Christianity is about Christians, and as you so clearly pointed out, it's not. It's about Christ. It convicted me as I thought about how I try to make myself a "good person", I try to follow Christ's commands, because "I have to represent Christ well." True, how we represent Christ is important, but my key motive should not be to impress or influence others with my Christ-likeness and perfection; it should be to show my gratitude and devotion to Christ, and to show it first and foremost to Christ himself.
